36 Degrees North: Marketing + Events Coordinator

The Marketing + Events Coordinator will oversee all external facing 36 Degrees North events and own 36 Degrees North’s social media platforms. You will develop the strategy and structure for community events and invite new faces into our locations. The Marketing + Events Coordinator will manage all social media platforms from strategy to photography and content creation to implementation. 

The ideal candidate for this position has a strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, proactive approach. This role drives new membership applications by meeting Tulsans out in the community and creating awareness through 36 Degrees North’s social media channels. Ultimately, these things will help the organization promote entrepreneurship in Tulsa, bring new members to 36 Degrees North, and grow businesses in our community.

Duties + Responsibilities: 
Social Media (50%)

  • Take professional photographs of events, members, and 36°N space
  • Audit current social media usage and create recommendations for 36°N brand awareness moving forward
  • Build social media strategy, create calendar, schedule and implement across all social platforms (instagram, facebook, linkedin, twitter, etc.)
  • Attend 36°N events and programs to capture content for social media channels

Community Events (30%)

  • Build a strong pipeline that encourages entrepreneurs from the community to attend events at 36°N.
  • Cultivate meaningful relationships with people representing all of Tulsa, including diverse cultural, social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds with a high degree of professionalism and cultural competence.
  • Develop relationships with community partners and attend events. Be in the know of new opportunities and programs in Tulsa’s ecosystem. Create pathways to partnership between 36 Degrees North and other entities serving entrepreneurs.
  • Seek out community events within the 36°N target market to effectively promote the benefits of 36 Degrees North to community members.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of 36°N and partner programs to connect people to the right resources, at the right time.

Other Marketing Tasks (20%)

  • Keep website up to date with current events, job postings, and member companies
  • Update internal communications channels with current events (TV's, calendars, Slack, etc.)
  • Assist programming team with creating graphics and signage for events

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field
  • At least 2 years of event coordination experience
  • At least 1 year of social media management experience
  • Must be skilled in operation of DSLR camera and Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop
  • Ability to occasionally work hours outside of 8a-5p for events and ability to manage flex-hours.
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, multitasking, and organizational skills
  • Ability to nurture relationships convert leads to members
  • Knowledge of entrepreneurial ecosystem and community preferred, but not required
  • Must have capability to use/learn Webflow, Gmail, Google Docs, Asana, Slack, and macOS
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication and positive attitude

Physical Demands: 

  • Regular demands include talking, hearing, seeing, typing, sitting, and standing.
  • Occasional demands include lifting up to fifty pounds, walking, reaching with arms and hands, balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Work Environment: 

  • This position operates full time (40 hrs/wk), Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
  • Ability to occasionally work hours outside of 8a-5p for events 
  • Occasional need to utilize personal transportation, must have valid driver’s license and auto insurance
  • Indoors with moderate noise level with passage of others through work area, occasionally outdoors

Salary: $40,000 - $45,000 commensurate with experience
