About the job

9b is looking for a Project Manager with excellent organization, decision-making, and communication skills to join our growing team in Tulsa, OK. The ideal candidate will have experience overseeing projects related to data, software, and/or technology from start to finish.

The Project Manager will lead one or more of 9b’s strategic projects and work streams in support of the Birth Through Eight Strategy for Tulsa (BEST). BEST is in Year Five of a 10-year program funded by George Kaiser Family Foundation and other national funders. BEST is a comprehensive, continuous, and integrated approach that focuses on families to help break the cycle of intergenerational poverty. While your time will be prioritized for BEST projects, you will still be a valuable part of the 9b team and will contribute your talents to internal projects as well.

Since 9b does client work, you should expect to take on some tasks that do not fit within this exact job description, but in general you will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with the project team to document, organize, delegate, and communicate all work currently in process and on the future roadmap
  • Ensuring each project stays on schedule and adheres to the deadlines
  • Ensuring each project stays within budget and billable hours are estimated/prioritized
  • Tracking milestones, deliverables, and requests from the client
  • Serving as the client’s point of contact for information regarding the project
  • Creating long- and short-term project plans and adjusting the scope/schedule as needed
  • Managing and motivating team members
  • Giving customer presentations and project proposals
  • Soliciting regular feedback from clients on projects
  • Discussing potential projects with clients and team members

Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of proven project management experience
  • Experience with data, software, and/or technology projects, preferred
  • Working knowledge of project estimation and prioritization techniques, preferred
  • Experience with agile methodologies is a plus
  • Experience with Holacracy and facilitating internal meetings is a plus
  • Good decision-making and organization skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to listen and empathize with others and meet their needs
  • Ability to motivate and encourage team members
  • Attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
